Does depakote show up in pre-employment drug screens

A standard drug screen will only test for the following drugs:
Marijuana (including cannabis & hash)
Cocaine (including crack & benzoylecognine)
Opiates (including heroin, opium, & morphine)
PCP is (including phencyclidine)
Amphetamines (including speed & methamphetamines)

A standard drug test will not determine the presence of any other compounds.

Expanded drug test look for the following: barbiturates, benzodizepines, methadone, & propoxyphene. Occassionally they will look for alcohol as well. Only a small number of drug tests test for LSD, MDA, mescaline, or inhalants.

Your employer is not interested in whether or not u r taking prescription medication when giving u a drug test, instead he/she wants to know if u r using any illicit drugs. If u test positive for any drugs, the Medical Review Officer who performs the drug test will ask u to show proof of a legal prescription. You can skip this step by being upfront about any prescription medications that u r taking, & providing legal prescription medication paperwork ahead of time. If u talk to the Medical Review Officer after the fact, & provide proof of legal prescriptions, the employer receives a negative result & does not receive a list of the prescription medications u r currently taking.

Medications that can show up on drug tests:
Sustiva - could show a positive result for marijuana in error on some drug tests.
Pain medications
Sleeplessness medications
Anxiety medications
Neuropathy medications
Acetaminophen with codeine (Tylenol with Codeine)
Alprazolam (Xanax)
Diazepam (Valium)
Lorazepam (Ativan)
Marinol
Tincture of opium
Hydrocodone (Anexsia & Hydrocet)
Methadone

All of these medications can cause positive test results, & u will need to prove legal prescriptions if this is the case to the reviewer. If u clear it up, & it is prescription related, ur employer will only receive a negative drug test result.

Best advice: talk to ur pharmacist if u r concerned that a specific medication that u r taking will show up on ur drug test. Go to ur pharmacist before the test & get copies of ur prescription receipts & or precriptions so that u can prove medications after ur drug test.

Do not stop taking any prescribed medication so that it will not show up on a drug test. Some people try to buy products on the Internet & in health food stores to eliminate drugs from their system (both legal & illegal ones) & there is no proof scientifically or medically that these products actually work. Some people dilute their urine by drinking lots of herbs & teas. Unfortunately, all of these ''tactics'' to try & tamper with the results of a drug test will more than likely make the drug test come back as inconclusive, which means that they have to repeat the test, & ur employer has to pay for the test a second time. If u do get an inconclusive test because u tried to tamper with the testing process, it is reported to ur employer.

If u use medical marijuana, it will show up on ur test. If the marijuana was prescribed by ur doctor, make sure that u get it in writing, so that u will have something to show following ur drug test.

Does depakote show up in pre-employment drug screens

It depends on the type of drug screen. A urine drug screen it probably would not show up. A blood drug screen most likely would show up. I would not worry about it--it is used to treat seizures and as a mood stabilizer--as long as you have a prescription for it in the event they ask about it--you will be fine.

The only thing they look for when they take a blood is the use of drugs and if your using them. There not worried about the depokote as that is prescibed by a doctor.

If u have a prescription for it, and if ur taking depakote u should have a prescription, then it does not matter if it shows up.

usually preemployment drug screens are looking for drugsof abuse, but If you are worried you can always disclose medications you are on so that the biproducts are not misconstrued. I take a narcotic sometimes for chronic pain issues, I definatly disclosed that one. Besides if you take if for sz. your boss might need to know in case you have a sz work.
