what are the negative long-term effects of depakote?????

The only side-effect I experienced in the 10 years I took it was myoclonus (muscle jerking), which went away when my doc switched me to a different mood stabilizer (in my case, it is Lamictal).
The side-effects listed by the above writer are very rare, since blood tests for liver function and therapeutic drug levels should be done every 6-12 months.

One of the biggest long term side affects of taking this drug is the potential for liver damage, usually associated with vomiting, loss of appetite, fever, or dark urine.
Some people also experience hallucinations while on this medication.

One of the other major side effects that this drug has r not to it is user, but rather to the children. Woman who r taking this drug r 10 times more likely to have children born with birth defects, especially those born with anencephaly (born without a brain).

Spina bifida is also another very likely possible birth defect associated with this medicine.

Wearing anything long-term will cause the article of clothing to start to stink, or get really dirty, even for depa coats, which I hear are good for long-term wear.
Wash it every 3 months at least. Make sure you take it to the dry-cleaners and let them know to be careful around the depas.
